This week was a very busy week for me as tax reform was a key issue in Washington. As a CPA and member of the tax-writing Ways & Means Committee, I took part in a White House tax reform meeting with the President on Tuesday and the GOP tax reform retreat on Wednesday. Through these meetings, I believe we have made substantial progress in building our pro-growth tax reform plan to put more money back into middle class pockets. I also spoke to over 200 CPAs via digital conference at the University of Akron National Tax Conference discussing the new tax reform plan. Watch my week in review here.
Check out my opinion piece on Fox News about my tax principles for tax reform. It includes what I believe must happen in order for tax reform to be successful. Read full article here.
I spoke with Stuart Varney on Fox Business on Monday to discuss the push for tax reform. Watch the segment here.
I joined Morning Joe on MSNBC on Monday to discuss bipartisan efforts in Washington, the President’s support in Ohio, and North Korea. Watch the segment here.
America’s Newsroom interviewed me on Fox News Monday and we talked about pushing pro-growth tax reform. Watch the segment here.
I was on HLN with Across America on Thursday to discuss Rep. Scalise’s return to Washington and the new tax reform plan. Watch the segment here.
Washington Wrap Up
This week, I had the opportunity to meet with a bipartisan group of mayors from Ohio and across the country. As a former mayor myself, I have a keen understanding of how local governments work and how vital they are to the functioning of our communities. We discussed tax reform, the need to address immigration issues, and healthcare reform.
Also, the House and Senate both passed important legislation that will provide tax relief to the areas impacted by the devastating hurricanes. It is important that Congress continue to work closely with the administration to ensure that our fellow Americans in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands have the resources they need to rebuild their lives and their communities.
This week, my district staff held a Veterans’ Mobile Outreach event in Rocky River to help our military veterans with their VA Benefit questions and needs. Thank you to all that attended and made this event a success.
My district staff also attended the Gold Star Mothers’ Sunday event at the York Township Gold Star Families Memorial Park in Medina. The event honored all those who have lost a son or daughter while serving our country in the Armed Forces.
On Wednesday I hosted my first ever Facebook Live event. After attending the White House tax reform meeting, I answered questions about the new tax plan that was discussed as well as any other questions constituents submitted. It was a great kickoff event for Facebook Live and I am thankful to all that participated.
My next Facebook Live will be on October 4 th at 8:00P.M. I hope this later time next week will allow everyone interested to be able to participate. If you would like to participate and ask a question, or would just like to watch the event, head over to my Facebook page at Facebook.com/RepJimRenacci at the start of the event. I look forward to answering your questions.
