Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) today released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to approve the bipartisan budget agreement reached by the Budget Conference Committee:
“Though the budget agreement is far from perfect, it is certainly a step in the right direction as it forces Congress to move forward with the appropriations process.
“In the past, I voiced concerns over the budget process itself and I stand by my comments in that the process is broken, and it must change. In the future, I am hopeful that comprehensive transparency measures will be implemented. With that said, I applaud Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Patty Murray for their efforts to reach this agreement. It is critical now more than ever that we find common ground and act together to move America forward.
“Throughout my time serving the people of Ohio’s 16th district, I have remained committed to reducing federal spending, eradicating burdensome regulations, and keeping taxes low to help create an economic environment that will allow our small businesses, the backbone of our economy here in Northeast Ohio, to have the ability to innovate, hire, and expand. As we move forward, it is critical that we take steps to address the drivers of our $17 trillion debt, reform our broken tax code, and rein in excessive federal spending. We are facing challenging times ahead, and I maintain the belief that we must make the tough but necessary choices to advance policies that hold the promise of a brighter future for those that will come after us.”
