Berea, Ohio — Today, Congressman Jim Renacci (R-OH) released the following statement after the Berea Fire Department received a new fire engine as a result of a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant:
“I was glad to hear a letter I sent to FEMA on behalf of the Berea Fire Department made headway in the grant approval process. As a former volunteer firefighter, I understand how important it is for first responders to have adequate resources to protect our communities and to be able to do it safely,” said Renacci. “Providing our firefighters with the proper tools will ensure they are ready to answer the call.”
Captain William Eisenhardt with the Berea Fire Department was grateful the department was chosen:
“We were successful in securing funding via our FEMA AFG grant application, likely the result of Congressman Renacci’s support, and the product of that grant project, a new ladder truck, has now arrived. I thought the least I could do was send in a picture of the new truck so that you have something visual to indicate how dramatic a difference you helped us make in our community.”
The grant is available through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is used to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments.
