8.5.16: Week In Review
Dear Friend,
This week we lost a dear friend, a great mentor, and an admired colleague. When I first was elected to Congress, Steve LaTourette was assigned as my mentor. He was someone who I could always go to for advice, council, and more times than not, a good laugh. While serving Northeast Ohio in Congress, he was a steady hand and a notable steward for his constituents. Steve was respected by many and will certainly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jennifer and the entire LaTourette family.
Washington Wrap-Up
Congress is still back in their districts for August District Work Period.
Local Officials Visits
As a former mayor, I used to have a pulse on what was going on and I want our local officials to have the same understanding. It is also a great way for me to hear updates on their cities and discuss how I can help back in Washington. This week, I continued my meetings and met with officials from over five cities and townships including Parma Heights, Village of Apple Creek, and Shreve. Below I am pictured with Mayor Breneman of Wooster and his staff.
Simplifying America’s Tax System
I have been working the past eight to nine months on a tax plan for our country so it is the most competitive system in the world. This is important to keep business here in the United States rather than have them move abroad because their tax system is more appealing. Read the article ‘Tax Analysts’ wrote about the plan here. Click here for the two-page summary of the plan.
As always, read my Weekly Column here.
