Dear Friend,

On Tuesday I am holding a public forum with National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson.  Building on initiatives already implemented, the IRS for the past two years has been developing a “Future State” plan that envisions how it will operate in five years and beyond.  The objective of the public forums is to ensure the “Future State” plan will better reflect the needs and preferences of U.S. taxpayers as they seek to comply with the tax code.  I invite you to join us in the discussion on Tuesday, August 16, at 5:30pm at the Parma branch of the Cuyahoga Library (6996 Powers Blvd).  For more information, please contact my Wadsworth office at (330) 334-0040 or you can RSVP for free event here.

Washington Wrap-Up

Members are still back in their districts for the August District Work Period.

Ohio manufacturing and energy forum

I continue to be a strong proponent of an “all of the above” policy that protects Ohio’s energy supply and the jobs that rely on it.  This week I spoke at the Ohio manufacturing and energy forum to discuss current energy issues and the importance of responsible energy development in the context of jobs, the economy and U.S. competitiveness.  Thank you to everyone who came out for the event.

Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative, Inc.

I also had the pleasure of speaking at the Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative breakfast this week to discuss the impacts of the Clean Power Plan and to provide D.C. update to their members.

Local Official Visits

This week I visited local officials from cities including Seville, Westfield Village, Rittman, Doylestown, and West Salem.  View photos from the visits here.

Our roads

“NE Ohio roads are among the worst in country” – this is why I continue to believe we need a long-term solution for our deteriorating roads.  Last year, I introduced the Bridge to Sustainable Infrastructure Act, which would provide an avenue to extend the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund.

As always, read my weekly column here.
