Dear Friend,

This holiday weekend there will be a record number of Ohio drivers on the road traveling at least 50 miles from home.  That being said, I hope everyone has safe travels as we celebrate our nation’s independence and the men and women who fought for our liberty.

Washington Wrap-up

This Week:  The Select Committee on Benghazi released their proposed investigative report.  Read the full report here to learn more.  The House was in recess, so there were no votes in the House.

Next Week:  The House will continue with our appropriations process to fund different aspects of our government.  The House will also consider an anti-terrorism package that aims to strengthen the prevention of suspected terrorists from buying guns.  Additionally, House and Senate negotiators are working to wrap up an 18-month Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization.

A couple highlights in the 16th District this week:

Mayor Hanwell

I started the week with a visit to Medina and met with Mayor Dennis Hanwell to discuss issues such as health care and transportation.  In order to keep my to-do list fresh as I head back to Washington, traveling throughout our district is one of the many ways I stay up-to-date with problems facing Ohioans.

Habitat for Humanity

This week was the groundbreaking of this Habitat for Humanity house in Wadsworth. Thank you to Habitat for Humanity Medina County for all the great work you do for our community. Pictured below is the family who will acquire the house along with Wadsworth Mayor Robin Laubaugh and Councilman Dave Williams.

As always, read my Weekly Column here.
