MEDIA ADVISORY: CONGRESSMAN RENACCI TO HOST MEMORIAL DAY MEDAL CEREMONY

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Jim Renacci (OH-16) announced a Memorial Day event honoring two veterans from Ohio’s sixteenth district. In recognition of their service to the United States of America during times of war, Congressman Renacci will be presenting medals that had been lost or buried.

Ms. Rose Giffen, of Hartville, Ohio, will be receiving medals on behalf of her father, Dominick Joseph Trifero.  Mr. Trifero served in the South Pacific theatre during World War II.  When he passed away in 2009, his family buried him with his medals per his wishes. This year, Mr. Trifero is being honored as the Veteran of the Year in Uniontown, Ohio, and his uniform and medals will be on display at the Lake Township Historical Society in Greentown. Mr. Trifero served faithfully from 1942-1945 and was honorably discharged. In addition, Mr. Gary Kindig, Specialist Four, of Clinton, Ohio, served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 and was honorably discharged.  En route home from Vietnam, his duffel bag and Purple Heart were stolen. He will receive not only his Purple Heart but also the other medals that he qualified to earn during his time of service.
